Ticket or receipt: what's the difference?

Both are produced by parking lots but they serve different roles in the customer's visit:

    • A parking ticket is the entry stub. It's handed to (or printed for) the driver when their vehicle enters the lot, before any payment has been made. It typically shows the entry date and time, ticket number, bay number, vehicle plate, and the parking lot's name. It's used later at the pay station or barrier to calculate what the customer owes.
    • A parking receipt is the proof of payment, issued after the customer pays. It shows totals, taxes, the payment method (cash, card, QR, tap-to-pay) and a transaction reference. Drivers use it for expense claims, tax records and insurance reimbursements.

This tool generates either one. Use the toggle at the top to switch modes. In Ticket mode, the "Paid" block and payment fields are automatically hidden. In Receipt mode, the full payment breakdown is included.

Who uses this parking ticket and receipt generator?

This tool is built for anyone who needs to issue a quick, professional parking document without specialised software:

    • Parking lot operators and attendants at urban surface lots, garages and pay-and-display sites
    • Valet services at hotels, restaurants, hospitals and event venues
    • Airport parking and long-stay garages
    • Hotel and resort parking for guest car services
    • Hospital and clinic parking charging visitor parking fees
    • Event organisers running temporary car parks for conferences, festivals, weddings and sports
    • Drivers and travellers who lost their original receipt and need a replacement for an expense report
    • Property managers charging tenants or visitors for parking
    • Shopping malls and retail centres issuing validated parking stubs

If you're processing 30+ tickets a day manually, you'll outgrow a generator like this fast. That's where a full parking management system like Entry2Exit pays off, with automatic ticket printing, plate recognition, integrated payments and a complete audit trail.

How to create a parking ticket or receipt in 5 steps

    1. Choose Ticket or Receipt mode. Ticket if it's for vehicle entry. Receipt if payment has been made.
    2. Pick a template. Ten layouts available: classic ticket, modern minimal, parking garage, valet stub, airport long-stay, monthly pass, hospital, hotel, event, and street meter style.
    3. Add your branding. Upload your logo, set the parking lot name, address, contact details, accent colour and font.
    4. Fill in the parking details. Entry date/time, exit date/time, bay number, vehicle plate, fees, payment method.
    5. Toggle elements and download. Show or hide any field. Add custom text lines. Download as PDF, PNG or JPG, or print directly.

What should a parking ticket or receipt include?

The exact fields depend on whether it's a ticket (pre-payment) or receipt (post-payment), and the type of facility. Here are the standard elements:

    Parking ticket (entry stub) essentials

    • Business name and location at the top
    • Ticket number for tracking and matching at exit
    • Entry date and time
    • Bay or space number if assigned
    • Vehicle plate for valet or controlled-access lots
    • Lane or gate number for multi-lane facilities
    • Rate information so the driver knows the tariff

    Parking receipt (after payment) essentials

    • Everything above, plus:
    • Exit date and time
    • Duration of stay
    • Base parking fee, taxes and total
    • Payment method (cash, card, QR, tap-to-pay) and last 4 digits of card if applicable
    • Transaction or approval number
    • VAT or tax disclosure if you're registered
    • Customer copy footer to distinguish from merchant copy

The generator lets you toggle every one of these on or off based on what's relevant for your operation.

Different parking receipt and ticket formats explained

    Classic ticket (monospace)

The traditional thermal-printed look with monospace font and narrow column. Best for high-volume self-pay machines and pay-and-display lots.

    Modern minimal

Clean sans-serif layout with a coloured header band and prominent total. Suited for premium valet, hotel and corporate parking.

    Parking garage detailed

Entry time, exit time, duration, pay station, approval number and full transaction details. Standard for multi-storey garages.

    Valet stub

Compact tear-off stub with bay and plate. Used by restaurants, hotels and event valets.

    Airport / long-stay

Optimised for multi-day stays. Shows departure and return dates in side-by-side cards. Common for airport business-travel expense claims.

    Monthly parking pass

Issued to season-ticket holders. Shows validity period, plate, and bay assignment.

    Hospital parking

Visitor-friendly layout with department or ward reference, often validated by hospital staff.

    Hotel valet parking

Includes guest room number, vehicle make/model, and key tag reference.

    Event parking

Short-stay format with event name, lot section and a flat-rate payment line.

    Street meter / pay-and-display

Compact, expiry-time focused. Designed to sit on a dashboard so an inspector can see when the parking period ends.

Download as PDF, PNG, JPG or print directly

Different situations call for different file formats:

    • PDF: Best for emailing receipts to customers or attaching to expense reports.
    • PNG: Best for embedding in apps, sharing on WhatsApp, or printing on a thermal receipt printer.
    • JPG: Smallest file size, fine for quick sharing.
    • Print directly: Send straight to your default printer, formatted for 80mm thermal paper.

All four options are available with one click on this page. No conversion tools or extra software needed.
